From Expo 2010 Shanghai to Abu Dhabi
Inspired by the desert dunes of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the UAE Pavilion provides a unique event space with the ability to host everything from art galleries to gala dinners. Since 2011, it has been one of the distinctive venues for the annual Abu Dhabi Art fair.
Originally designed for World Expo 2010 Shanghai, the pavilion's strikingly original design was the vision of the globally acclaimed Foster + Partners, one of the most innovative architecture and integrated design practices in the world. Comprising two dune-shaped peaks its stunning design attracted almost 2,000,000 visitors as it presented exhibitions that highlighted the history of the UAE.
Moved piece by piece from Shanghai, the striking dune-shaped structure has now been relocated to its permanent home beside Manarat Al Saadiyat, adding to the Saadiyat Cultural District's many attractions.
UAE Pavilion has been open since 2011.
