TDIC has developed a number of projects with long-term aims to grow and nurture the cultural landscape of Abu Dhabi. These projects are focused on attention to customer experience, oriental style and authentic high standards. They will bring art, artefacts, performances and other cultural treasures from all over the world to Abu Dhabi.
Designed by architect Frank Gehry, the
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will showcase contemporary art as well as items from the Guggenheim Foundation's collection. It will also focus on Middle Eastern contemporary art. Created from an agreement between the governments of France and Abu Dhabi, the
Louvre Abu Dhabi will display a collection of priceless and cultural significant objects, artworks and manuscripts from all over the world.
The Manarat Al Saadiyat or "Place of Enlightenment" an art and culture centre, is the home of many exhibitions with international collections from all over the world. Future cultural projects on Saadiyat include the elegant and futuristic Performing Arts Centre, designed by Iraqi/British architect Zaha Hadid, will be a hub of cutting edge international music, theatre and dance. It will be located close to the museum cluster in the Cultural District.
The National Pavilion of the United Arab Emirates, was previously displayed at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. It displayed various exhibitions that highlight the history of the United Arab Emirates and it now has a permanent home next to the
Manarat Al Saadiyat. It will be the hosting spot for some of the most important cultural functions in the country.
Zayed National Museum will be the centrepiece of
Saadiyat Island and will feature highlights of the culture and history of the United Arab Emirates. TDIC is also developing the Maritime Museum in the
Saadiyat Marina district, which will be a showcase for the maritime heritage of Abu Dhabi and will express the long and complicated relationship that this community has had with the sea.
